Create a garden sensory bin in 3 easy steps!
Sensory bins are great activities for toddlers and preschoolers. Our first sensory bin was such a hit with Lil B (4) and M-Woww (2) we created a new one for this week. For a different texture from our previous bin, I mixed the colored rice with dried beans to create our garden sensory bin. We also added real and fake vegetables to extend the creative play. Lil B and M-Woww’s favorite thing was burying the vegetables and then digging them back up. To extend the lesson discuss what vegetables grow in the ground and what vegetables grow above the ground.
*Disclaimer: Adult supervision is recommended. If your child still puts everything in their mouth you may wish to wait and try this activity later.
Dried Beans (We used black beans and pinto beans)
Carrots (We used a combination of real and fake carrots)
Shovels (sand toys we already had)
Step 1: Color Rice
Step 2: Layer beans and cover with rice.
