Here is an easy art tutorial on how to make bracelets from recycled magazine paper beads.
This is a quick project depending on how many bracelets (or paper beads) you wish to make. We used paper from a recycled magazine but you can use other decorative paper or leftover
We used paper from a recycled magazine but you can use other decorative paper or leftover scrapbook paper too.
We decided to make a bracelet or “man band” as Lil B (4 yrs old) called it, but use the paper beads to create whatever you want. Scroll below to read the tutorial on how you can create your own paper bead bracelet or man band!
Magazine or other recycled paper
String or Pipe cleaner
Step 1: Collect your paper. We used an old magazine and tore out bright colored pages. We realized we had enough colors for a rainbow pattern which excited my two artists.
Step 2: Cut your pages into long triangle strips. You may find it helpful to draw the triangle lines on the page for your beginner cutter to cut.
Step 3: Flip over triangle so the backside is facing up. Starting with the big end of the triangle roll onto the pencil. Younger artists may need help with rolling the paper on the pencil.
Step 4: Glue. Place a dot of glue at the small end of the triangle. The glue most likely will ooze out…this is good! Use the extra glue to cover the bead. I used my finger to spread the extra glue over the rest of the roll. This will help hold the paper in place. Slide the bead off the pencil and allow it to dry.
Step 5: Repeat with other colors and magazine pages.
Step 6: To make the bracelet, string the beads onto a piece of string or pipe cleaner.
Style Tip: We cut the beads in half and repeated the rainbow pattern for our bracelet.
I love paper beads because there are many things you can create with them….necklaces, bookmarks, backpack zipper pulls…I could go on and on.
